This month's photo: Object

I have been wanting to write this post for a while and it just happened that the subject of this month's photo was matching (somehow!)

During a rainy WE, R and I visited the Singapore art museum. Singapore is definitely not famous for its museum but we actually walked on a pretty interesting exhibition and got a private tour at the same time. (The lady was really bored, she was desperate for visitors!). It was "the weight of history" and each artist had its own interpretation, sometimes it was about recycling and reusing objects, sometimes about creating something new with old broken pieces or my favorite, the evolution of an object across time.

The camera nearly took a bath for this month's photo! I made an attempt at taking photos on the beach and I wanted to see the waves coming towards me with surfers in the background.

I'm not sure the result is there yet but it was anyway a wonderful WE in Bali!

15th of the month, lunch time in Paris, it's time for this month's photo!

I was trying to find a connection between the theme and South East Asia and after having thought of forest fire in Borneo and national day fire works, I finally decided on fire in my mouth!
here is a photo from a cooking lesson in Thailand! This country has the hottest salad ever!

This month's photo: Water

This month's photo theme is water and not showing a holiday photo with a wonderful turquoise sea is actually quite difficult!
But a (good) idea always come in the end, so let me introduce you to Songkran!

Songkran is the new year celebration in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos  and it consists of a giant water battle in the streets, R went to Bangkok a few weeks ago to participate, he came back with some very flashy water guns that a kid would dream off, and I can bet there was a fair amount of partying as well...

Anything is allowed: guns, buckets, bins even the firemen spray!
If you are a particularly mean player you can choose to load your gun with really cold water, apparently it hurts a lot more! (water reload is free, for ice water, you have to pay!)

As per usual, it's not the best photo you'll see this month but I couldn't pass the opportunity of introducing you to another SE asian celebration!

Tip for future holidays in Asia: If you don't want to be soaked for a week every time you get out, check Songkran dates before booking!

This month's photo: Black and White ... but not in black and white

The theme, this month, is black and white but it was absolutely forbidden to take a photo in black and white! would have been too easy...

As per usual, I give you my thinking path to get to this photo:
First I thought about our wedding photos R's tux and my dress (don't assume it was white...) but I don't do private photos on the blog...
Apart from that no more ideas...
R suggested Rochester park in Singapore which has some unusual black and white houses and that was the official idea until we went on a trip to Australia.
R was working all day and tourism in Fremantle only kept me occupied for a day, so on the second day, I drove south to get to Penguin Island!

Now you know what I am going to say, penguins are the perfect black and white animals! These ones were particularly cute, they are the little penguins, only 30cm height, the smallest ones of the penguin specie. As they are at sea fishing during the day, I only managed to see one in the wild, the photos were mainly taken at the feeding session where the ones who are not ready to be re-introduced in the wild yet are kept.

But I have a few more really cute ones which I could not keep away from you... And I also had to show how brave I was to get to the island (read the signs carefully) and there were a few more good looking animals (most of them black and white or black or white!)
